Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hardcourt
A resurgent the Russian player won his initial title for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The Russian, a ex- number one, has had a torrid season, managing just one match at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the American major.
The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in specific - led to him falling of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with former trainer Cervara.
Presently working with Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually advanced in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.
This marks his maiden championship following the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface after March of that year.
Victory also means he has secured 21 titles at 21 different competitions.
"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my children together, so to win a trophy is particularly special," commented world number 14 the champion.
"This championship is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the first title I won when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.
The player's defensive strategy and regular outbursts on court had led observers to doubt if his capacity to play at the elite level was over.
Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and play assertively, backed up by an improved serving game.
The champion came back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.
The competitors swapped service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first tour title, seized the initiative to force a decider.
The opponent defended four initial break points in a close third set before the Russian won the break to that score to serve for the match.
Suitably, Medvedev clinched the title with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
